Primary Election Day in Kentucky is May 17. Here’s some other election dates to know
Kentucky’s primary elections are nearly upon us, and in preparation for Tuesday, May 17 – when voters across the state can hit the polls to make their selections – we’ve rounded up some other election dates to know.
Monday, May 9 through Wednesday, May 11: In-person, excused absentee balloting underway at county clerks’ offices.
Fayette County voters can visit the county clerk’s office at 162 E. Main St. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to vote in-person, absentee with a “qualifying excuse.” You can find a list of acceptable excuses to use this method here.
Tuesday, May 10: The final day for military and overseas (UOCAVA) voters to request an absentee ballot. The voters respective county clerk’s office must receive the application by this day.

May 10 is also the final day for those who received a mail-in absentee ballot but will be in the county on Election Day to return their blank ballot and instead vote in person.
Thursday, May 12 through Saturday, May 14: Early, in-person voting. No excuse is needed to take advantage of early voting these three days in Kentucky. Any registered voter can attend and cast a ballot at a county voting site.
Fayette County voters can visit Kroger Field from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the three-day period to vote early.

Tuesday, May 17: Primary Election Day across Kentucky. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
You must vote at your assigned precinct on Election Day.
If you vote by mail, your mail-in ballot must be received by your county clerk by 6 p.m.
Friday, May 20: County boards of election must certify number of votes with the secretary of state’s office by noon May 20.
Tuesday, May 24: Final day to request a recanvass. The deadline is 4 p.m.
