Here are the latest polling results for Kentucky’s U.S. Senate, House races
Don’t expect much drama for Kentucky’s Washington delegation this primary season, at least among Republicans.
All five Republican incumbents have vastly outspent their challengers to the tune of at least $400,000. The only two incumbents facing opposition with significant cash are U.S. Reps. Thomas Massie of Northern Kentucky and Brett Guthrie of near-Western Kentucky.
Guthrie has outraised his opponent Lee Watts, a regular speaker at rallies in Frankfort held to protest COVID-19 restrictions, by $1 million and Massie secured the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, despite Trump previously calling him a “third-rate grandstander.”
Louisville’s 3rd Congressional District Democratic primary, a race between statehouse politicians Morgan McGarvey and Attica Scott, is expected to be tighter. Scott has the advantage of having campaigned longer, but McGarvey scored the endorsement of outgoing Rep. John Yarmuth.
Central Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District Democratic primary is one to watch, as no candidate has raised six figures. Frequent political contender Geoff Young has run a campaign focused on international affairs, specifically an anti-interventionist platform, while Chris Preece of Berea has highlighted more bread and butter progressive issues like healthcare and education.
Young has spent more than Preece, but nearly all of his $96,000-plus warchest is comprised of loans that he made to his own campaign, according to the Federal Elections Commission as of March 31. Preece had raised nearly $29,000 in that period.
