Do you have questions about the Kentucky governor’s race? Ask us anything on Reddit
We’re wrapping this up for today, thanks for joining us!
In case you haven’t heard, there’s an election next month — I know, it seems like there’s an election every month of every year.
But this particular election is one that’s got a lot of eyes on it both in and out of the commonwealth. Incumbent Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear is facing Republican challenger and Attorney General Daniel Cameron for governor.
The governor’s race has already proven to be the most expensive in the country this year, per a new analysis of ad spending by the firm AdImpact.
Beshear and Cameron are both scheduled to appear in a number of debates, or candidate forums, alongside each other this month.
The Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce’s Gubernatorial Candidate Forum is next on the schedule, taking place Oct. 12, followed by the Northern Kentucky Gubernatorial Debate on Oct. 16. You can see the full schedule right here.
With these debates upcoming, and more to follow, we want to ask our readers what questions they have about the governor’s race.
Join Herald-Leader political reporters Tessa Duvall and Austin Horn on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. EST on Reddit, specifically the Kentucky subreddit, for an AMA (ask me anything) where they answer your questions about the election.
Of course, Kentuckians will also elect other constitutional officers, including attorney general and secretary of state, so bring your questions about those races, too.
While you’re here, if you want the top headlines and political insights in the commonwealth delivered to your inbox every week make sure to sign up for our Bluegrass Politics newsletter.
What is Reddit?
I won’t presume everyone is familiar with every social media site because there as many sites as there are stars in the sky.
Reddit, broadly defined, is a news aggregate, content rating, discussion-based social media site. Or, as the site itself puts it, Reddit is “a network of communities where people can dive into their interests, hobbies and passions.”
The site is broken up into communities called subreddits, which are focused on specific interests like politics, cooking, books, etc. Also popular on the site are subreddits for cities, like Lexington and Louisville, or things with statewide interest.
Making an account is easy enough as it would be for any other social media site, and you can do so here.
Once you’ve made your account, make sure to join us on Oct. 17 beginning at 2 p.m. in the r/Kentucky subreddit, which you can find and join by searching on Reddit, and keep an eye out for our AMA.
This story will be updated with a link to the AMA post once it goes live.
