Gray, Beatty to square off in televised debate for Lexington mayor's race
Lexington Mayor Jim Gray and former police chief Anthany Beatty will square off Sunday in their first televised debate since advancing to the November general election.
The debate organized by WKYT, The Herald-Leader, and the League of Women Voters will air from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday on The CW Lexington (channel 27.2) and be simulcast on NewsRadio 630 WLAP. The debate will also stream live on Kentucky.com and Wkyt.com. WKYT anchor and political editor Bill Bryant will moderate the debate. Herald-Leader reporter Beth Musgrave and Lynne Flynn of the League of Women Voters will assist in questioning the candidates.
The candidates will have a second televised debate next Wednesday. Transylvania University and the Lexington Forum are co-hosting a debate from 7-8 p.m. before an audience in Carrick Theater. That will be broadcast live by WLEX18 and WEKU.
