Trump supports former Lexington councilwoman to lead Republican National Committee
President-elect Donald Trump has thrown his support behind KC Crosbie, a former Lexington councilwoman and the treasurer of the Republican National Committee, to become co-chair of the RNC.
Crosbie, Kentucky’s representative on the RNC, announced her plans to seek the post in an email to members Sunday night, NBC reported.
“This position demands leadership, communication, and the ability to unify our diverse membership while supporting President Trump and his Administration’s bold initiative to ‘Make America Great Again,’” Crosbie wrote. “I am committed to fulfilling the responsibilities of RNC Co-Chair with the same dedication I have brought to the role of Treasurer.”
If chosen, Crosbie would replace Lara Trump, who had served as co-chair since March and said Sunday she will step down. Trump, the President-elect’s daughter-in-law, is said to be considering a Florida Senate seat.
In a social media post Monday night, Donald Trump said Crosbie “has served on the RNC with distinction.”
“As Treasurer, she helped the RNC smash every fundraising record in History, and fortified our Party’s financial foundation. KC has been with me from the very beginning, helping REAL Republicans get elected across the Country, and would be a tremendous Co-Chair of the RNC,” he wrote on TruthSocial. “KC will work on continuing to ensure a highly functioning, fiscally responsible, and effective RNC that makes Election Integrity a highest priority. KC Crosbie has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Co-Chair of the RNC!”
Kentucky Republican Party Chairman Robert Benvenuti said in a statement that Crosbie would “work tirelessly and excel in this critical role.”
“KC’s intellect, work ethic, passion, and conservative principles will allow her to champion the America First agenda with the same vigor and distinction as Lara Trump,” Benvenuti wrote. “President Trump’s support for KC shows that he recognizes the exceptional political expertise and decades of experience that KC will bring to the position. Having been involved in countless successful campaigns and helping elect strong conservatives both in Kentucky and beyond, she will be a major asset to Republicans nationwide.”
She would serve alongside Chairman Michael Whatley, of North Carolina.
Crosbie was first elected to serve on the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council in 2006, and she served three terms. She ran unsuccessfully for Kentucky State Treasurer in 2011.
Crosbie also served as finance chairperson for the Kentucky Republican Party until 2014 when she stepped down from the position after she announced she would run as lieutenant governor with gubernatorial candidate Hal Heiner, who was defeated in the Republican primary in May 2015.
Crosbie is married to Scott Crosbie, whose law firm represents Lexington’s police and corrections unions. Scott Crosbie ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Lexington in 2002.
In August, the couple were among the co-hosts of a Lexington fundraiser for Vice President-elect JD Vance.
