A man was charged with four counts of assault Saturday when he allegedly spit blood on officers who were detaining him.
About 3 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to Hackel Drive in southwest Louisville for reports of a naked man running down the street, according to an arrest citation.
Officers found James Reed, 46, and attempted to confront him, but Reed fled, according to court records. Officers chased Reed and tackled him to detain him.
Reed resisted arrest, but officers handcuffed him, Reed’s arrest citation said. Reed had multiple cuts and lacerations on his face, and when Reed was loaded onto an ambulance, “he started acting irate and then spit blood” on three officers,” according to court documents. Reed also allegedly tried to bite officers.
