Lexington woman thrown from car, hit on I-64, reports say. Was high speed the culprit?
A 35-year-old Lexington woman died Monday night when she crashed her vehicle on Interstate 64 in Clark County.
Clark County Coroner Robert Gayheart said the driver, Angela McKinney, is thought to have lost control of the Mitsubishi Montaro Sport and overcorrected when it went off the road. She was thrown from the vehicle after it flipped, and she was hit by another car.
Gayheart said she was the only person in the SUV. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses said she was driving more than 100 mph, according to LEX 18 reporter Claire Kopsky.
The westbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 103 were shut down for several hours following the crash, which Gayheart said was reported at 9:21 p.m.
