Brush fire catches as many as 100 junk cars on fire at Kentucky auto parts store

A brush fire has burned as many as 100 junk vehicles near Sitka in Johnson County, according to W.R. Castle Fire and Rescue.

The brush fire was started near Green’s Auto Parts on Ky. 201 and caused the vehicles at the auto parts store to catch fire, according to a Facebook post from W.R. Castle Fire and Rescue.

The Flat Gap and Rockhouse fire departments assisted W.R. Castle with the fire. The Kentucky Division of Forestry also responded, according to W.R. Castle’s Facebook post.

The fire department said high winds caused difficult conditions. People were advised to avoid the area, so the fire departments can get vehicles in and out of the scene.
