2 children dead, another hurt in crash that kills 4. Kentucky police investigate
Four are dead, including two children, after a crash in Meade County Tuesday evening, according to Kentucky State Police.
Synthia Armstrong, 52, Christina M. Diaz, 44, a 12-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy are all dead after Armstrong and Diaz’s cars collided near 362 North Dixie Highway (U.S. 31-W) in Muldraugh, according to police.
Armstrong, a Brandenburg resident, was traveling South in a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox when she crossed over the center line and hit Diaz, a Louisville resident, police said. Diaz was in a 2003 Cadillac CTS. Armstrong, Diaz and the 12-year-old passenger in Diaz’s car were dead at the scene, police said.
The 14-year-old boy in Diaz’s car was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where he died from his injuries, police said. An 11-year-old boy in Diaz’s car was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
There was also a 7-week-old in Armstrong’s vehicle who was uninjured but was taken to Norton’s as well, police said.
It is not clear what caused Armstrong to cross into the other lane, police said.
KSP was called to the scene just after 5:45 p.m. by Meade County Dispatch. The Muldraugh Police Department, Meade County Sheriff’s Department, Muldraugh Fire Department, Meade County EMS, Hardin County EMS and the Meade County Coroner’s Office also assisted at he scene. Police said they are still investigating the crash.
