‘Papa John’ continues to show off his $11 million home during the pandemic

John Schnatter, the founder and former CEO of Papa John’s Pizza has spent part of his “healthy at home” time showing off his massive house on social media.

Schnatter posted the third edition of his house tour on TikTok Tuesday, showcasing his gym.

“One thing about this house is I try to utilize every single square inch of space that I can, he said. “So the gym – which is a must, by the way, your wealth is your health — is something that is a big big deal.”

Schnatter said he took the concept for his gym from the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The home, located in Anchorage, is worth more than $10.6 million, according to Jefferson County Property Valuation Administration records. It’s roughly 6,890 square feet of finished space on a 7.9-acre piece of land, according to property records.

The land is worth about $557,000, according to the PVA.

The property was purchased by Schnatter’s family for about $960,000 in 1996. Roughly ten years later, it was valued at $7.6 million in 2007. In 2017, the value jumped up to $11.2 million. The property tax bill for 2019 was more than $43,000.

The proud owner has been repeatedly sharing photos of the house on the increasingly popular TikTok.

While wearing T-shirts bearing his nickname, Schnatter has previously shown off his library and his foyer with an eagle sculpture which doubles as a clock. He promised a fourth installment of the tour.

“They say stay at home, so we’re staying home,” Schnatter said in part two of his tour. “Some of you want to see the home. I’m going to show you the home. Some of you all are giving me some grief for seeing the home.”

Schnatter has mostly been out of the public eye since he resigned as Papa John’s chairman of the board after it was reported he used a racial slur during a conference call.

In a November interview with WDRB, Schnatter said he was unfairly forced out of his position by others on the board of directors. He also said he used the racial slur to convey his hatred of racism.

Schnatter stepped down from CEO position at Papa John’s after he criticized the NFL for not taking action when players knelt during the National Anthem.
