‘We still have a long way to go.’ Ky. reports 117 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths Sunday

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear released that 117 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Sunday, bringing the state’s total up to 13,750.

The new cases were as of about 4 p.m. Sunday, according to Beshear’s office.

“We’ve been in this fight for more than three months now and, unfortunately, we still have a long way to go,” Beshear said in the release. “But I have total confidence that Kentuckians will rise to the challenge in order to do one of the things we do best: watch out for families, friends and neighbors.”

There were also two new deaths in Kentucky attributed to COVID-19 on Sunday. A 61-year-old man from Fayette County and 73-year-old man from Butler County died of the illness, according to Beshear’s office.

Kentucky has had 526 reported deaths attributed to COVID-19, according to Beshear’s office.

“I know these families are in so much pain right now, and the reality is, there’s nothing anyone can do to fix it,” Beshear said in the release. “We can’t fix it, but we can continue to support all families who are grieving during this time. You are not alone.”

At least 3,530 people in Kentucky have recovered from coronavirus, according to Beshear’s office.
