Federal authorities were searching a pain clinic in Hazard Tuesday morning.

WYMT-TV in Hazard reported that there were officers from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Kentucky State Police at the business, called Kentucky Pain Management Services.

The station reported there were also agents from the U.S. Office of Health and Human Services at the clinic. That agency often investigates allegations of misuse of Medicare and Medicaid, though there was no immediate confirmation of the subject of the search.

The FBI confirmed that agents were conducting “judicially authorized activity” at the address listed to the clinic on Roy Campbell Drive in Hazard.

Judges must authorize search warrants.

The FBI did not release any further information.

A call to the clinic went to voicemail.
