Police K-9 stolen by man who lured it away with Vienna sausages, Kentucky cops say

A Kentucky man was recently arrested after he told police he stole a K-9, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Brandon Harmon of Smithfield told officers he used Vienna sausages to lure the police dog from a fenced-in area, according to an arrest citation.

A sheriff’s office deputy found Harmon allegedly trespassing on private property Aug. 26, the citation says. Harmon asked the deputy “to give him a ride up the street” regarding a stolen weed eater.

Harmon, 26, later asked the deputy what happened to the K-9 that was stolen from a deputy’s fenced-in property on Aug. 8, documents show. The deputy asked Harmon how he knew about the stolen dog.

“I had something to do with it,” Harmon said, according to the sheriff’s office. He later said he “coaxed him out with Vienna sausages,” the arrest citation says.

Harmon was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal trespassing and theft. He is due in court for a preliminary hearing Wednesday, court records show.

The dog was found “earlier this month,” according to the citation.
