Camper found dead near Red River Gorge
A 25-year-old male camper was found dead at a campsite near Hanson’s Point on Sunday, according to a Facebook post from the Wolfe County Search & Rescue Team.
The team received a 911 call about an unresponsive camper at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Officials found the camper dead inside his bivy.
A bivy is a “weatherproof cover for a sleeping bag with a breathing hole,” according to MSR.
Officials don’t yet know the cause of death.
