Death toll from Kentucky tornadoes rises to 75 with addition of cleanup death

The death toll from a series of tornadoes that hit Kentucky Friday and Saturday has risen to 75 with the addition of a man who had a heart attack during storm cleanup in Bowling Green.

Terry Martin Jayne, 67, was helping clean up debris at his daughter’s house when he suffered a heart attack, according to Warren County Coroner Kevin Kirby.

Kirby included Jayne on a list of people who died “as a result” of a tornado that hit Bowling Green early on Dec. 11.

That increased the number of deaths in Warren County to 16 and the statewide total to 75.

Kirby said Jayne, whom he described as “super nice,” was from Russellville and owned a flower shop.

Mayfield and Graves County had the highest number of deaths in the tornadoes at 21, but there were fatalities in ten counties altogether.
