7 year old killed in Wolfe County fire, father injured trying to save child, report says

A house fire in Wolfe County claimed the life of a 7-year-old child Friday, according to a report from WYMT and Kentucky State Police.

The fire happened Friday morning on Kentucky-1812. KSP said after the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered human remains inside the burnt residence.

The remains were unidentifiable but WYMT reports the victim was 7 years old. WYMT said the child’s father tried to go back into the burning home to save the child.

He suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital, per WYMT.

Investigators are working together to determine the cause of the fire.
