Eastern Kentucky sheriff’s deputy shoots suspect, state police say
A Breathitt County deputy sheriff on Friday shot a suspect multiple times, according to Kentucky State Police.
As of 1 p.m., the individual who had been shot was alive, said state Trooper Matthew Gayheart. State police said in a news release Friday evening that the man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
“The officer was not shot,” Breathitt County Sheriff John Hollan said in a social media post. State police said the deputy was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
The state police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting, which occurred at 11:28 a.m.
