Kentucky woman dies following motorcycle accident on interstate
A woman has died after a fatal motorcycle accident on I-75 Saturday evening, according to Kentucky State Police.
State police said Faith Jenkins, 26, of Somerset, died due to injuries when the driver of a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle lost control. Jenkins was a passenger on the motorcycle.
Kentucky State Police were notified by Rockcastle County 911 of a single vehicle injury accident on interstate I-75 northbound at the 72-mile marker just after 6 p.m. on Saturday .
The initial investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling north on I-75 when the rear wheel of the motorcycle blew out causing the driver to lose control of the motorcycle and lay it down on its side. Both Jenkins and the driver were taken by Rockcastle EMS to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Berea.
The driver was later transferred to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital and is being treated with non-life threatening injuries. Jenkins died from her injuries and was pronounced dead by the Madison County Coroner’s Office, according to a news release.
Neither party involved in the collision was wearing a helmet.
Trooper Cory Jones is continuing the investigation and was assisted at the scene by troopers from Post 11 London, Madison County EMS, Rockcastle EMS, Mount Vernon Fire Department, Brodhead Police Department, Rockcastle Sheriff’s Office and the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
