Murder charges filed against man who allegedly killed three in wrong-way crash on I-75

Police announced murder charges late Wednesday against a man who allegedly drove the wrong way on Interstate 75 and caused a crash in which three people died.

Joshua Poore, 21, of Clovis, Cal., was charged with three counts of murder, according to a release from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Police believe Poore was intoxicated at the time of the crash, according to the release.

Police said the crash happened Monday around 11 p.m. near the exit 38 overpass on I-75 at London. A Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was heading northbound in the southbound lanes and struck a Nissan Altima with three occupants inside.

All three people in the Altima were killed, police said.

Police identified Poore as the driver of the pickup truck. He suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deshawn Love, the driver of the Altima, and passengers Kevin Criglear and Alihya Dukes all died in the crash. All three were 25 years old and from the Chicago area, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said in a release that Poore was released from the hospital in Lexington Wednesday and taken back to Laurel County. Lt. Chris Edwards with the sheriff’s office executed warrants charging Poore with three counts of murder and he was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center, according to the release.

The Laurel County sheriff said the interstate was shut down for several hours after the wreck.
