Officials have found the body of a man in Eastern Kentucky who was last seen jumping into the Kentucky River, according to Perry County Emergency Management Director Jerry Stacy.

The body was found Tuesday morning, Stacy said. It was located a few hundred yards away from where a witness last saw the man — in the Airport Gardens area of the Kentucky River.

The Perry County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name.

The London-Laurel Rescue Squad said it responded to Hazard on Friday to help Perry County Emergency Management and the Hazard Fire Department with the search. Search efforts have been focused on the Kentucky River, the rescue squad said.

The search had continued throughout the weekend into this week, Stacy said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
