The remains of an unknown male were found after a fire was extinguished in Breathitt County Thursday.

Kentucky State Police said multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire on Cedar Hill Road in the Clayhole community. After the fire was put out, the body was found inside the residence.

The Breathitt County coroner pronounced the man dead at the scene, and the remains were sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort for an autopsy and identification, state police said.

State police said they were called to the scene at 1:06 p.m. and are investigating.
