A second person died after the sign at a Denny’s in Elizabethtown fell on a vehicle last week, according to multiple reports.

Lloyd Curtis died Monday morning from his injuries sustained in the accident, according to WHAS11 in Louisville. A family member of Curtis confirmed the death in a Facebook post.

Lillian Curtis died Thursday from the accident, according to Chris Denham with the Elizabethtown Police Department. According to her obituary, she was Lloyd Curtis’ wife.

The accident happened at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the Denny’s on Mulberry Street in Elizabethtown, just east of I-65. Denham said the a sign fell from atop a pole onto a car and trapped both Lillian and Lloyd Curtis and one other individual inside.

Emergency officials extracted all three occupants, according to Denham. All three were transported to a hospital, which is where Lillian later died.

The third individual involved in the accident has since been released from the hospital, according to WDRB.

Wind is believed to have been a factor in the accident. WLKY in Louisville reported that wind gusts reached 50 miles per hour at the time of the accident.

A GoFundMe has been setup to help the family with funeral costs.

“Please keep my family in your prayers for this is a very difficult time for all of us,” she wrote. “My nanny was loved by so many people and this loss has left a hole inside us all.”
