Fisherman finds body in water near London, police say

An investigation is underway after a fisherman in Laurel County found a body in the Cumberland River.

According to the London-Laurel Rescue Squad, around 11:35 am. Saturday, they responded to the London Dock after a fisherman found the body and called 911.

Rescue units used a boat and recovered the body from the water. The victim was not identified, and no other information was released.

Whitley County Emergency Managment, Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel County Division of Public Safety and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office also responded.
