A 14-year-old girl who was flown to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital Sunday evening after falling into water over a dam in Harrison County has died, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner’s office identified the teenager as Mia Woolums. She was pronounced dead just after 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Officials with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife said they responded to the Robinson Dam area Sunday afternoon after receiving a report that a girl fell over the dam while taking a photo. Woolums was found by Harrison County Search and Rescue approximately one hour later and given CPR on scene.

Woolums was sent to a local hospital in Cynthiana before being flown to UK Chandler Hospital in Lexington, according to fish and wildlife officials. Her medical status was unknown Monday afternoon.

An investigation is ongoing, fish and wildlife officials said.
