State police investigate fatal crash between Danville fire vehicle, moped driver

A 47-year-old man has died after a collision with a Danville City Fire Squad vehicle early Sunday morning.

According to Danville police, officers responded to the intersection of Main Street and 2nd Street for an injury collision which involved a city fire squad Ford F550 truck and an Aldy moped around 12:30 a.m.

Investigations indicate the fire vehicle was in route to a lift assist call, and was not being operated in emergency response. According to state police, the driver was identified as Kevin Bugg.

The fire vehicle was traveling eastbound and entered the intersection where the moped was traveling northbound when the two collided.

Medical aid was given to the moped operator, who was identified as Chadwick Thomas of Danville. He was transported by Boyle County EMS to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center where he died.

Kentucky State Police is investigating the incident, and other details will be released from their agency.
