Lexington travelers will soon be able to fly direct to Denver, Blue Grass Airport says
Beginning on September 29, Lexington travelers will be able to take non-stop flights to Denver.
United Airlines and the Blue Grass Airport announced that United will be expanding flights and adding new routes in a plan to “significantly grow its position as Denver’s leading airline,” according to a United Airlines press release.
This new addition will create the first direct route from Lexington to Denver at the Blue Grass Airport. In a news release, United said it felt it was important to continue establishing a stronger presence in Denver, and the added flight to Lexington was part of that effort.
“One critical part of our expansion is offering our customers more convenient access to unique destinations like Lexington,” Mark J. Weithofer, United Airlines managing director of domestic planning, said in a news release. “We’re looking forward to connecting Blue Grass Airport travelers to even more destinations across the globe through Denver.”
The addition will expand travel to Denver and the Rocky Mountains. It will also provide connecting access to the western United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Western Canada, Mexico and Japan, according to the Blue Grass Airport.
Daily flights to Denver will be provided on a 76-seat aircraft which includes a first-class cabin holding 12 seats.
“This is great news for Lexingtonians and all of central Kentucky,” Eric Frankl, president & CEO of Blue Grass Airport, said in a news release. “This non-stop route to Denver, with all its connection possibilities to the West, has long been a highly desired destination for travelers flying from Blue Grass Airport.”
