A Fairdale man who plays Cash Ball 225 daily finally got the win he was looking for, according to a Friday Kentucky Lottery press release.

The man, who will remain anonymous, according to Kentucky Lottery, purchased the ticket at Best Stop Food Mart in Louisville. When he saw his win, he thought the machine was broken.

“I was scanning my tickets and saw that pop-up,” he said. “I thought maybe something was wrong with the machine.”

That’s when he asked the teller for help.

“I checked it two or three times to make sure and I gave it to the teller and let her check it on the machine,” he said.

His ticket matched the winning numbers for the July 1 game: 1, 11, 19, 29 and Cash Ball 22.

When the teller told him he had in fact won, he said he was shocked.

“My heart kind of stopped,” he said. “I just couldn’t believe it.”

Cash Ball 225, which is a game exclusive the state, tasks players with selecting four white balls numbered one to 35, and a red ball numbered one to 25. You can also use the “quick pick” for numbers selected by the machines. The winning numbers are drawn daily.

The odds of winning the top Cash Ball 225 prize is 1 in 1.3 million, according to Kentucky Lottery’s website.

The man claimed his prize Wednesday, collecting $160,875 after taxes. Best Stop Food Mart will win $2,250 for selling the winning ticket.
