2-year-old boy in Kentucky accidentally shot and killed by another child

A 2-year-old boy in Whitley County died Thursday after he was accidentally shot in the head by another child, according to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.

The shooting happened on Martin Road in Corbin, according to the sheriff’s department. The child, later identified as Milo Brooks, was transported to Baptist Health - Corbin Hospital, where he later died.

Investigators determined that another child gained access to a gun and accidentally shot Brooks in the head, the sheriff’s department said. It’s unknown how the child got ahold of the firearm.

Sheriff Bill Elliotte is investigating the shooting.
