Looking for a fright? Check out 3 of the scariest haunted attractions in Central KY
From wagon rides deep into haunted woods, to full-contact thrills and carnival-like fun, the Lexington area has a lot to offer if you enjoy a good scare during the spooky season.
We’ve rounded up some of the most varied options to suit different tastes, including key dates, times and ticket prices.
Here are three of the scariest haunted house and Halloween attractions in Central Kentucky this year.
The Haunted Trails of Whispering Woods, Georgetown
Make sure to wear shoes you can walk (or more likely run) in for this eerie experience hosted by Whispering Woods Riding Stables in Georgetown.
Your journey begins when you climb into a wagon with a less than trustworthy driver headed deep into the shadowy woods on the site. Before you know it, you find yourself alone, surrounded by trees on all sides with only an isolated trail to follow back to safety — if you can.
Beginning Oct. 13, on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the month you can pay $15 per person and test your courage at the Haunted Trails of Whispering Woods.
The first wagon departs shortly after sundown at 7:30 p.m. with wagons leaving every 20 minutes. The last wagon sets off at 10 p.m. For more information, visit the venue’s website or contact event organizers.
Location: 265 Wright Lane, Georgetown, KY 40324
Fright Nights Kentucky, Lexington
Styling itself as “Central Kentucky’s Most Extreme Haunted House” experience, Fright Nights Kentucky isn’t for the faint of heart.
It features two attractions, one indoor and one outdoor. It’s a full-contact blitz through disorienting rooms and twisted corridors as you battle to reach the end.
If you can stomach the more extreme side of horror, Fright Nights offers an immersive and thrilling experience. You can do both of the attractions for $10 and get additional perks, like speedier wait times, for an additional charge.
Fright Nights runs throughout October, and is open from 9 to 10 p.m. Sunday and Thursday and from 9 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
Location: 1209 East New Circle Road, Suite 190, Lexington, KY 40505
Wicked World Scaregrounds, Nicholasville
For $30 admission, Wicked World Scaregrounds in Nicholasville offers visitors three attractions centered on some imaginative scenarios and characters.
There are also on-site food vendors, photo ops, a DJ and gift shop, and you’ll be entertained by the staff while you wait in line. Together it makes for a carnival-like atmosphere and a fun night out.
Wicked World is open from 8 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays throughout October, along with Oct. 30 and Halloween.
For an event calendar or to learn more about the attractions, go to Wicked World’s website.
Location: 5817 Tates Creek Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356
