One person killed, six more hospitalized after head-on collision in Southern Kentucky
One person was killed and six others were injured in a head-on collision in Whitley County Thursday evening, according to Kentucky State Police.
The wreck happened shortly before 9 p.m. on Kentucky Highway 92 approximately one mile west of Williamsburg. WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s news-reporting partner, reported the crash happened near Grace Christian Fellowship Church.
KSP said a Ford Fusion being driven by a juvenile crossed the center line of the road and collided with an oncoming Kia Sorento.
Marlainna Terry, 41, of Stearns, was a passenger in the Sorento and died in the collision, according to KSP. The driver of the Sorento and two juveniles in the vehicle were airlifted to University of Tennessee Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
There were three juveniles in the Fusion, according to KSP. The driver was transported to Baptist Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The other two were airlifted to UT Medical Center, one of which had non-life-threatening injuries and the other is in critical but stable condition.
Toxicology tests were performed on both drivers involved in the wreck, according to KSP. Results of those tests are pending.
The collision is under investigation by KSP.
