A Kentucky firefighter was killed Saturday while on duty, according to the Kentucky Firefighters Association.

Regina Huffman, 39, died after the emergency response vehicle she was riding in slipped off the road down an embankment, according to the Kentucky Firefighters Association, an organization which works to provide support to Kentucky firefighters. The vehicle hit a house, injuring Huffman and her oldest son.

Huffman, who worked with the Coon Creek Fire and Rescue Department in Leslie County, died at the hospital while her son suffered minor injuries, according to the firefighters association. Huffman had a fiance and six children.

“Please keep the Huffman and Coon Creek fire families in your thoughts and prayers,” the firefighters association said in a Facebook post.

Huffman and other firefighters were responding to a serious ATV crash Saturday evening which required helicopters to transport patients.

Huffman and other firefighters were going to the landing zone when the crash occurred, according to the firefighters association.
