Four Kentucky students were sent to a hospital Tuesday after being involved in a school bus crash, according to Kentucky State Police.
The collision happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Rosetta Corners Road in Breckinridge County. KSP said the driver was in a pickup truck when he crossed into the path of a school bus and hit it head-on.
The driver was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to KSP. Four students on the bus were sent to Baptist Health Hardin Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released a short time later.
The bus belonged to the Breckinridge County School District, according to superintendent Nick Carter. There were 31 students on the bus when the collision happened, according to KSP.
The uninjured students were released to parents and guardians at the scene, KSP said. The bus driver wasn’t injured, according to KSP.
“We would like to thank our local law enforcement, the Kentucky State Police, EMS, and community volunteers for assisting and caring for our students and staff,” Carter said in a Facebook post.
