Updated: 4 people, including 2 minors, killed in a Kentucky house fire
Kentucky State Police were investigating Friday morning a deadly house fire that left four people, including two minors, dead in Casey County, according to Kentucky State Police.
The fire happened Thursday in the Bethelridge community of Casey County on Kentucky 837, KSP said. WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s news-reporting partner, reported that the house was fully engulfed with flames and firefighters battled the fire for at least five hours.
When firefighters were able to make entry into the home they found Ariel Gordon, 29, and Thomas Moss, 39, dead inside the residence, according to KSP. Two minors, whose identities were not provided by KSP, were also found dead inside the residence.
The children were Sebastian Collins, who would have turned 3 years old next week, and Mary Grace Chesser, 18 months, said Casey County Coroner Mike Brown.
He said Gordon was the mother of the two children.
The victims were sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, KSP said.
Brown said McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty will be handling arrangements for Gordon and the children, and Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg will handle arrangements for Moss.
It’s unknown what caused the fire. KSP said it was still under investigation Friday.
