Looking for the best doughnut in KY? This spot has ‘em, according to Yelp reviewers
Kentucky’s best doughnut shop is a nearly century-old bakery known for its Holland cream-filled and “melt-in-your-mouth” glazed doughnuts.
That’s the takeaway from review site Yelp and its top reviewers when it comes to what Nord’s Bakery in Louisville has to offer.
Yelp’s 2024 list of the best doughnut shops in every state includes businesses with large concentrations of five-star “elite” reviews. Elite Yelpers are those who regularly share well-written reviews and high-quality photos of their experiences.
Here’s what Yelp’s best reviewers have to say about Nord’s Bakery and what makes it stand out.
What makes Nord’s Bakery unique?
According to the Yelp roundup, Nord’s mixes a bit of yesterday’s dough into each doughnut, adding to its flavor complexity.
Its most popular doughnut, which Nord’s calls long johns, are rectangular pastries filled with cream and topped with bacon (or peanut butter and jelly all throughout).
Its Holland cream-filled doughnuts, defined by their buttery flavor and fluffy texture, are another favorite of Nord’s faithful.
Along with the classic doughnuts you’d expect, such as cinnamon sugar twist and powdered sugar, Nord’s offers bold flavors, including French fry, maple bacon and coconut. Custom cakes and cookies are also on offer.
Nord’s, located at 2118 S. Preston St., Louisville, KY 40217, has a fairly large menu, and doughnut prices start at just $1.
The Louisville shop isn’t the only Kentucky doughnut outfit to garner some acclaim recently. Southern Living recently named Red’s Donut Shop in Paducah one of the 14 best doughnut shops in the South.
