A solo pilot who mysteriously vanished as he flew from Florida to the Bahamas has been found dead, officials said.

Christopher Moore, 59, from Louisville, Kentucky, had made the flight “many times” before in his single-engine Bristell plane, according to WDRB.

He took off the morning of Aug. 4 from Sebastian, Florida for a three-hour flight to Marsh Harbor, Bahamas, officials told WKLY. His wife, Stacye Love, became worried when she didn’t get a “silly cute text” from him telling her he had landed, she told WHAS.

He was reported missing on Sunday, and the Coast Guard launched a search with Bahamas officials, covering nearly 1,800 square miles around Grand Bahama, according to WDRB.

Unable to find Moore and his plane, the Coast Guard suspended the search on Aug. 5, officials told WHAS.

Private searchers found the plane, with Moore’s body inside, on Aug. 8, according to WHAS.

His wife told WLKY that he died on impact when his plane crashed 2.5 miles away from the Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, airport.

Sebastian, Florida, is about a 160-mile drive north of Miami.
