A woman was arrested after a man’s decomposing body was discovered wrapped in a shower curtain inside a Kentucky apartment, police say.

Police in Louisville made the grim discovery Aug. 26 when they received a report of a corpse found inside an apartment.

“A search warrant was executed on the apartment and the victim was found to be wrapped in a shower curtain, plastic and another curtain was placed on top of him,” police said in a citation. “The victim was found to be in advanced stages of decomposition.”

The investigation led authorities to a 41-year-old woman, who police said was interviewed Sept. 3.

The woman told investigators the victim overdosed in the apartment. She admitted to wrapping the body and leaving without notifying police, according to the citation.

Police arrested the woman on Sept. 9 and charged her with abuse of a corpse, court records show. She is not charged in the death of the victim, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed.

She remains in jail as of Sept. 11 on a $10,000 bond, jail records show. She is due in court for a preliminary hearing Sept. 20.
