Kentucky boy, 3, dies in crash involving dump truck

A 3-year-old boy died after being involved in a crash Friday between a passenger vehicle and a dump truck in Laurel County.

Ezekiel Russell, of Laurel County, died Sunday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center of injuries sustained in the collision, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday.

Ezekiel was a passenger in a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 29-year-old London man. The Tahoe failed to yield and hit the dump truck at Ky. 192 and Boggs Road, Kentucky State Police said in a news release.

“Both vehicles traveled down the roadway before coming to a concrete bridge railing, and both vehicles fell into a small creek,” state police said.

State police said they were notified of the crash at about 7:50 a.m. Friday.

Both the driver of the Tahoe and Ezekiel Russell were trapped and had to be extricated, state police said. The driver suffered serious injuries.
