KSP: Firetruck runs off road in Northern Kentucky. Firefighter airlifted to hospital

A firefighter was airlifted to a hospital Thursday morning after crashing a firetruck in Northern Kentucky, according to Kentucky State Police.

The crash happened on KY 177 in Pendleton County. KSP said a Northern Pendleton County Fire Department firetruck was unable to navigate a left turn and went into a creek.

Rob Braun, with the Pendleton County Emergency Management Agency, said one firefighter was injured in the crash. The firefighter was later identified as Tyler Trumble, 29.

Trumble called dispatch himself to report the wreck, according to Braun He told officials the tanker truck wouldn’t brake, and he lost control going down a hill.

The firefighter was extricated from the truck and flown to University of Cincinnati Hospital, according to KSP. Braun said he suffered broken bones but is expected to make a full recovery.

The firefighter was responding to a call when the wreck happened, according to Braun.
