A 26-year-old was killed Sunday morning in Warren County after he swerved to avoid hitting a deer and was fatally rear-ended by a motorhome, according to state police.

Kentucky State Police Post 3 was notified of two-vehicle injury collision on Interstate 65 around the 25-mile marker northbound in Warren County around 2 p.m.

Early investigations show a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by Alex Bailey, 26, Jeffersonville Indiana, was northbound on Interstate 65 around the 25-mile marker when a deer caused Bailey to hit his brakes.

Bailey was rear-ended by a 1999 Ford motorhome, operated by 54-year-old Bruce Hutchins of Radcliff.

Bailey’s vehicle exited the right side of the roadway before resting on an embankment. Hutchins’ motorhome stopped against the inside barrier wall in the left emergency lane, according to state police.

Bailey died at the scene according to the Warren County Coroner’s Office. Hutchins was transported by MED-COM EMS to the Medical Center of Bowling Green with unknown injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
