Kentuckian wagered $3.1 million on Sunday’s Eagles vs. Panthers NFL game, ESPN reports
Someone in Kentucky has bet $3.1 million on the Philadelphia Eagles to beat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, ESPN reported.
Though the Super Bowl is known to bring out the high rollers, this wager is said to be one of the largest in history on a regular-season NFL game.
The bet was placed Thursday through Circa Sports, according to ESPN.
The Eagles are a heavy favorite to win the matchup, and the person who placed the bet (a moneyline wager at -700 for the Eagles) would net $442,800 if the Eagles prevail, the network reported.
The bet was placed through the Circa Sports mobile app, Jeffrey Benson, director of operations, said in an email on Saturday.
Circa Sports operates in five states, including Kentucky.
The company entered the Kentucky market last year with a licensing agreement through Cumberland Run in Corbin that made mobile betting available.
In August, Circa Sports announced that it was opening a temporary in-person betting location at The Mint Gaming Hall Kentucky Downs in Franklin, with plans to open a permanent retail sportsbook next year.
The Eagles are 10-2 heading into Sunday’s game against the Panthers, who are 3-9. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
