An Eastern Kentucky woman plans to pay off her home following 6-figure lottery win
An Eastern Kentucky woman is more than $100,000 richer after scratching off a big Kentucky Lottery win.
The anonymous woman is from London in Laurel County. She won more than $123,000 last month after she bought a $1 Juicy Wins Jackpot ticket, the Kentucky Lottery announced in a news release Friday.
“I got four bunches. I thought, ‘Lord, wouldn’t that be wonderful,’” she said, describing the rules of the game, which has players reveal matching symbols to win a progressive jackpot that starts at $100,000.
For a $1 play, the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.6. When the woman discovered she’d won the game’s jackpot, which was $123,221.48 at the time, she was floored. A jackpot win is attached to odds of 1 in 5 million.
“I about died!,” she told Kentucky Lottery officials.
At the time, the woman’s son was home with her and thought she was having a medical emergency.
“I heard her scream, and I wanted to make sure she didn’t have a heart attack or something,” he told the lottery.
After taxes, the woman took home $88,719.46 in winnings. She plans to pay off her house and debt with the money.
Another anonymous Kentucky Lottery player claimed a $700,000 lump sum payment recently on scratch-off game $1,000,000 Casino Nights.
Kentucky Lottery’s newest games include a set of scratch-off games where players can win up to $5 million. Tickets range between $2 and $50.
