Two people killed in Kentucky house fire. Cause of fire is under investigation

Two people died in a house fire early Thursday, according to the Estill County Coroner’s Office.

The fire happened around 1:30 a.m. at a home on Cherry Street in Irvine. The coroner’s office said firefighters arrived on scene within minutes of receiving the call and extinguished the fire in roughly 30 minutes.

After knocking down the fire, the victims were found inside the front part of the home. The coroner’s office identified the victims as Melissa Neal, 40, and Christopher Popp, 52.

The house is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
