Winter weather a factor in fatal crash that left a Kentucky man dead, governor says

A Kentucky man was killed in a two-vehicle collision during Tuesday’s winter storm, according to Kentucky State Police.

Gov. Andy Beshear later confirmed the weather conditions contributed to the crash.

The wreck happened around 9:15 a.m. near the intersection of Springfield Road and Pottershop Loop in Bardstown. KSP said 42-year-old Brian Tichenor was driving an Audi on Springfield Road when he left his lane at a curve, leading to a collision with a tractor-trailer in the other lane.

Tichenor was declared dead on scene by the Nelson County Coroner’s Office, according to KSP. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

“Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones. Please keep them in your prayers,” Beshear said on X.

Nelson County received about 5 inches of snow from Tuesday’s storm, according to the National Weather Service.
