As part of its push to downsize and slash the federal government, Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency also has listed savings in various changes to federal office leases.

The DOGE website lists many agencies and contracts it has cut, resulting in alleged savings of $55 billion.

Also on the website is a list of federal office space leases that DOGE says have been changed or axed contributing to the billions of identified savings.

More than 100 different office leases have or will be canceled or modified, according to the list.

None of those federal offices are in Kentucky or Indiana.

Ten are in Ohio.

By far, the largest lease was for the National Archive Center in Fairfield, Ohio, a suburban community north of Cincinnati That lease was for more than 124,000 square feet. According to information on DOGE’s website, the agency closed that office.

In fact, the National Archives announced it was closing the Fairfield temporary storage facility in August, prior to President Donald Trump’s victory in November and the creation of DOGE.

The annual lease cost for that space was $478,213. But DOGE listed the savings as $39,851. It’s not clear how those savings were calculated.

In an August news release, the National Archives said many of the items stored at the Fairfield temporary building will be moved to a Dayton archives center.

Some Ohio offices appear to have moved into other federal office space and were not closed.

For example, a Defense Contract Management Agency office in Akron appears to have moved into a different federal office space, according to the DOGE website. The website lists the annual lease at $48,404.

The total savings based on a five-year lease is $242,020.

The office spaces in Ohio listed on DOGE’s website include:

Department of Justice: Cincinnati, 3,096 square feet.

General Services Administration: Fairborn, 2,983 square feet.

General Services Administration: Middleburg Heights, 5,421 square feet.
