A section of a Kentucky highway near Lexington was closed indefinitely Monday after a mudslide, according to the White Hall Volunteer Fire Department.

The mudslide happened on U.S. 25 (Lexington Road). The fire department said the road is closed from the Boone’s Trace Subdivision to the Fayette County line at the one lane bridge.

The road will be closed until further notice, according to the fire department.

Boone’s Trace is a gated community located between Lexington and Richmond and sits on a wooded peninsula of the Kentucky River.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet interactive traffic map showed moderate to heavy traffic at the intersection of Igo Road and Simpson Lane approaching Interstate 75, which is closed to Lexington Road.
