What is Kentucky’s most wish-listed Airbnb this year? A dome with sweeping views

A gorgeous geodesic dome with panoramic views of Kentucky’s countryside is the state’s most wish-listed Airbnb stay in 2025. Here we see it pictured. The dome is made of glass and is perched on stilts.

From treehouses and cliffside cabins in Red River Gorge to houseboats floating on Lake Cumberland, Airbnb offers many exotic and adventurous experiences in the Bluegrass State.

But it’s a gorgeous geodesic dome with views of the horizon that is the platform’s most wish-listed stay for Kentucky in 2025.

My Old Kentucky Dome offers all the creature comforts you’d expect from a glamping experience while perched on an overlook featuring panoramic views of Kentucky’s lush countryside. It’s also listed as an “Airbnb Guest Favorite” and is within the top 10% of all homes on the short-term rental platform.

Its Airbnb listing states, “This brand-new one of a kind geodesic dome is located on a private road that leads you to an overlook featuring one of the most beautiful countryside views in Kentucky. While this getaway experience is nestled deep in the woods, it is also a close drive to all the conveniences you can imagine. This is an off the grid outdoor experience with a half mile gravel road including a steep hill.”

The dome makes for a convenient home base for launching day trips throughout much of the state, whether that’s exploring museums in Louisville, bourbon distilleries in nearby Bardstown or the local Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest. Bernheim Arboretum offers more than 40 miles of trails, beautiful scenery and iconic wooden figures that stand 15 to 20 feet tall.

My Old Kentucky Dome’s location is often a draw for visitors, owners Brandon and Trist Hanna told the Herald-Leader in a Facebook message.

“Being located in such a great spot in between Louisville and Bardstown (the bourbon capitol of the world), we have attracted both locals and guests from all over the U.S. and beyond. Guests have loved the unique space as well as the privacy of our location. It is a great place to relax and unplug, while still having some of those modern comforts that a home provides,” they said.
