4 Kentucky Lottery players have won a jackpot on the same game since early March
An online Kentucky lottery game produced jackpots for four lucky players since early March, according to an April 17 Kentucky Lottery release.
The online game called Elephant King, where players try to get three or more matching symbols, ended up sending four winners home with $1.2 million in combined jackpot wins — $840,000 after taxes.
The prizes started in early March when Hazel Morris, of Chavies, won more than $281,000, taking home $202,700 after taxes. Then in late March, a man who asked Kentucky Lottery to stay anonymous won more than $310,000 on the same game, earning more than $223,500 after taxes.
This month, a man from Louisville won a more than $254,000 jackpot on Elephant King.
The game wasn’t that man’s first choice for a game, however.
“I had just put my grandson down for a nap and decided to play ... online games,” the man, who also asked officials to remain anonymous, told Kentucky Lottery. “I played a few different games and didn’t get anywhere so I saw the Elephant King and thought I would try it.”
That man took home about $183,000 after taxes.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he said, per the Thursday release.
The man and his wife are planning on giving some of the winnings to their children and putting the rest in savings.
The last of the four recent winners was a woman from Carrollton, who won $314,000 after wagering $2 on the online game. According to the Kentucky Lottery’s website, the odds of winning a progressive jackpot after wagering $2 is about 1 in 8,333,333.33.
“I didn’t believe it. I really didn’t think it was real,” the woman, who also asked to remain anonymous, told Kentucky Lottery.
The woman took home about $226,300 after taxes on her win.
