Jackpot still up for grabs, but 2 KY retailers sold big winning Powerball tickets

While the $139 million Powerball jackpot has yet to be won, two Kentucky stores sold lucky tickets for the Saturday, April 19 drawing.

A ticket worth $150,000 was sold at a Walmart at 200 Walmart Way in Morehead, and Lexington’s E-G America at 109 Towne Center Drive sold a $50,000-winning ticket, Kentucky Lottery officials said in an April 21 press release.

The winning Powerball numbers for Saturday were 7, 25, 37, 39, 63 and Powerball 1. Both of the winning Kentucky tickets matched four white ball winning numbers and the Powerball, earning them $50,000. The Morehead win was multiplied because the lucky player added a $1 Power Play to their ticket.

The odds of winning $50,000 by matching four white balls and the Powerball are 1 in 913,129.18, according to the game’s website.

The Lexington ticket was claimed Monday, lottery officials said in an email to the Herald-Leader, but the winner did not want to publicize their win. The $150,000-winning Morehead ticket is unclaimed as of Tuesday morning.

Kentucky Lottery officials advise winners to sign the back of their tickets, keep them in a secure location and claim their prize within 180 days of the drawing. Those who win more than $25,000 must claim their prize at the lottery headquarters in Louisville, and should call 1-877-789-4532 to make an appointment before heading in.

The Powerball costs $2 to play, with a $1 optional Power Play add-on, and drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

In fiscal year 2024, 70% of Kentucky Lottery proceeds went to winners, 20% went to the commonwealth for college scholarships and grant programs, 5% went to retailers and 5% went toward administrative costs, the organization reports.

Another Powerball drawing was held Monday night, but the jackpot was not won. The estimated jackpot total is $139 million, with a $63.8 million cash value.
