A busload of children and several adults were sent to a hospital for evaluation after a school bus crash in Rockcastle County on Tuesday afternoon.

There were not thought to be any life-threatening injuries from the collision between a pickup truck and a Rockcastle County Public Schools bus, Kentucky State Police said.

After the crash on South Wilderness Road in Mount Vernon, another bus took the 23 students on board to the hospital “for evaluation and treatment,” according to Kentucky State Police.

Rockcastle County Schools said in a Facebook post on Tuesday evening that the injuries were “very minor, consisting of scrapes and bruises.”

By about 7 p.m., the district said all the students had been discharged from the emergency room at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.

The bus monitor was treated by EMS at the scene and then taken to Rockcastle Regional, while the drivers of the bus and pickup were taken “for medical evaluation” in private vehicles, state police said.
