Moped driver dies after rear-ending vehicle in Southern Kentucky

A moped driver died in a crash Wednesday after rear-ending a stopped vehicle, according to Kentucky State Police.

The collision happened around 1 p.m. near 900 North Laurel Road in Laurel County. KSP said 74-year-old Ronald Begley, of London, was driving a Taotao moped in the northbound lanes and rear-ended a stopped vehicle waiting to make a left turn.

Begley was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in London, where he was later pronounced dead. KSP said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

No other injuries were reported. KSP said alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash.

KSP is investigating the crash.
